Manga Art and Graphic Novel Expo for Teens!

Ex’pression College for Digital Arts is participating in the city of Fremont’s fourth annual Spring 2008 Manga Art and Graphic Novel Expo for Teens on Saturday, April 26th, 2007, at the Teen Center in Central Park. This is a full day of activities for junior and high-school students who love to create and view Japanese-style and international comics, anime, graphic novels, ‘zines and visual arts in general. The Expo is being promoted to thousands of teenagers in the Tri-City area (Fremont, Union City, & Newark) and continues the City of Fremont Teen Recreation Unit’s more than 40-year tradition of enriching the lives of the area’s youth though events and activities catering to students ages 11-19.In past years, in addition to vendors and exhibitors, we were fortunate to feature local artists PMBQ (Tea Club), Landry Walker & Eric Jones, (Authors / Artists of Tron & Super Scary Monster Show comics – Slavelabor Graphics); Ben Seto, (artist / authorof Henagi, The Ninja Girl; waterfalls and creator of skullbunnies); Jim Kilpatrick (author / artist of Sea Rover); Anthropomorphic animal illustrator John Scharmen, author / illustrator, Persona Animus; Danny Burbol, comics artist of Katie Cat, Hip Square & Juvenile Drivel; local cartoonist John Hageman, Jr., and Ian Ijo from Studio Kyuu. Also, artists from BAAU (Bay Area Artists Unite), including Alfred Twu, Laurianne Uy, Alexis Fajardo (Plato’s Republic & Kid Beowulf), Mel Smith and Clark Castillo (Wildcard Ink / Gumby & Friends), and George Dondero of Moronik (Dirt Boy & Bug Girl), Vizmedia, TokyoPop, Broccoli / Anime Gamers, Diamond Comic Distributors, Sakura of America, the Charles Schulz Museum, and the Cartoon Art Museum have also supported the effort in the past by contributing prizes & samplers.
